The Basement Waterproofing Guy!
The proud owner and founder of the BASEMENT Guy, Jason Payne, has brought his company full steam in to 2012. With 30 years of experience in the waterproofing business Jason brings his knowledge and leadership skills to this company with a real passion for growth. He is the original “Basement Guy” who built a solid reputation as a leader in the industry through expanding and making 1-905-STAY DRY the success it is today.
My initial construction experience began in 1976 when I headed west to Alberta and landed a job with a company called Cesco. They built and installed process equipment in the oil industry; I was in the concrete forming division. We would travel all over Alberta constructing foundations for various processing equipment. It was hard physical work but very rewarding. Two years after returning from Alberta (1981) I started waterproofing in Toronto with Nation Wide Waterproofing.
Five yeas later (1986) I started my own company (Jason Payne Construction) undertaking concrete work and basement waterproofing, this lead to many other projects. I worked closely with local builders helping them troubleshoot basement leaks. I remained a one-man operation for 8 years (obviously hiring temporary workers when needed). After a personal set back I lost interest in the business and took a job with a client whose basement I had finished. As I worked my way up in the business I learned how a well-managed company operated (this was the beginning of my management experience).
Somewhere between all this, my uncle had started a part time Basement Water Proofing company. In the beginning I worked with him from time to time, then at a later date, I became an estimator/scheduler and manager on a full-time basis. We found ways to increase productivity and employee wages at the same time, while maintaining the lowest prices in the industry. Over the next 14 years I oversaw most of the day-to-day operations of the business, eventually earning a 49% share of the company. During all this time I would occasionally run into clients in the Malls, Parks and Rec. Centres most did not remember my name; they would just refer to me as the Basement Guy. This was the inspiration to starting The Basement Guy, The Basement Guy Waterproofing (2005) then the Basement Waterproofing Guy. Names that clearly reflect what we do. Our slogan is “Leaks Fixed Permanently” and we stand by it!
Today the Basement Guy Waterproofing is more than a one-person operation; we are an Incorporated Company (2009), should anything happen to myself the company survives. Our Sales staff are mostly chosen from our own qualified waterproofing technicians, they waterproof first. It is important that our sales technicians fully understand our methods. Our sales staff continue to be our waterproofing techs as well so they are always up to date on skills and techniques. We are very fortunate to have some dedicated employees who continue to provide exceptional service.
We look forward to serving you. Call 1-905-STAY DRY for your entire Basement needs.
